Who is Marketplace for?
Marketplace is built for print networks, franchise groups and multi-producer platforms that need one storefront to route orders across several vendors rather than a single in-house production line. A buyer orders once; the platform decides which vendor produces it.
What does it add on top of Retail?
Everything in Retail is included: a personalisable catalogue, the built-in designer, print pricing rules, hosted-payment checkout and a print-ready PDF for every order. Marketplace adds the layer a multi-vendor operation needs:
- Vendor accounts, each with its own storefront presence within the platform
- Print capability declared per vendor, so an order is only offered to a vendor that can actually produce it
- Order splitting and routing to the right vendor based on capability and, where configured, location or load
- A print-ready file generated per vendor for the part of the order it produces
- Vendor payouts, tracked against the orders each vendor fulfilled
How does an order get from checkout to a vendor's production queue?
A buyer places an order on the storefront as they would on Retail. The platform evaluates which vendors declare the capability the order needs, splits the order across vendors if different line items require different capabilities, and routes each part to the matching vendor's queue with its own print-ready PDF. Each vendor sees only the part of the order it is producing, and the payout record attributes value to the vendor that fulfilled it.
How does setup work?
The Netbase team sets up every Marketplace store; subscribers do not set the store up themselves. The store is handed over within 7 business days, with vendor accounts and routing rules configured with you. The plan includes 50 set-up products, entered in batches of up to 10 with two revision rounds per batch. Managed hosting on Netbase VPS is part of the yearly plan; Netbase Cloud and on-premise hosting are quoted separately.
Who operates the vendors, and who operates the platform?
The subscriber operates the marketplace: it recruits vendors, sets which capabilities each one may declare, and configures the routing rules. Netbase operates the underlying platform, the same isolated-instance, managed-hosting and automatic-upgrade model as every other W2P Solution store. Netbase does not recruit, vet or guarantee the output of any vendor on a subscriber's marketplace; that relationship and its terms belong to the subscriber.
How does this compare with a fulfilment-network integration service?
| Question | Marketplace edition | Fulfilment-network integration service |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | Vendor accounts, per-vendor capability and order routing, shared by every subscriber | A connection to named production partners, built for one client |
| Routing logic | The edition's fixed routing rules | A bespoke routing algorithm if needed |
| Who sets it up | The Netbase team, handed over within 7 business days | The engineering team, after a scoped build |
| How it is paid | A yearly plan that renews automatically | A project quote |
| Who owns the integration | Netbase operates the product | The client owns the result |
A commissioned fulfilment-network integration connects a subscriber's existing systems to a specific set of production partners under negotiated terms, and the resulting integration belongs to the client. Marketplace is the subscription alternative: a fixed routing and vendor-account feature set on a yearly plan, set up by the Netbase team in days rather than scoped and built, with no integration project required to start. A network that needs a bespoke routing algorithm or a direct system-to-system connection with a named production partner is better served by a commissioned build; send a project brief describing that requirement.
What happens to vendor and order data if you leave?
A Marketplace store is its own isolated instance, backed up and kept current on the automatic upgrade channel like every W2P Solution store. A subscriber can export its full store data, including every vendor account, order and payout record, if it leaves. How W2P Solution is priced explains the plan structure, including how a larger network is quoted; current yearly plan details are given on request through a project brief. This page describes the edition's scope, not its cost.
The plan is billed yearly through PayPal and renews automatically each year at the same amount until cancelled. A cancelled plan keeps running to the end of the paid year, and fees already paid are not refunded; the full data export stays available. To see the platform first, book a guided demo through the demo page; a view-only demo store will open later.
Frequently asked questions
The plan sets an included number of vendors, with a higher allowance available on request; send a project brief naming the number you need.
Yes, when different line items in the same order need different declared capabilities.
Yes. Because Marketplace includes everything in Retail, moving up adds vendor accounts and routing without losing a catalogue already configured.
No. The subscriber recruits and manages its own vendors; Netbase operates the underlying platform only.
